Clinical Perspective on Perimenopause and the Menopausal TransitionAdvancing Healthcare Webinar Series

04/19/2024

The United States alone has approximately 50 million women over the age of 51. Over 2 million U.S. women enter menopause annually, and more than 6 million women worldwide. Women over 50 make 26% of all women globally¹.

Menopause is defined as 12 months after the last period a woman has and happens around the age of 45 to 55 with some exceptions. The years leading to menopause are called perimenopause. Perimenopause is when a woman may experience fluctuations in monthly cycles and may start 10 years prior to the actual cessation of the monthly cycle. Menopause is not a phase, rather it is the rest of a woman’s life.
